Potty Training
I’ve been trying to potty train my 2 year old. If I pay
attention to what I’ve read online and wait until he is ready to potty train –
then I’m failing miserably. I’ve tried sitting him on the potty with his potty
seat and he gets super distracted by everything. But sure enough as soon as I
put a diaper back on him, we have to change it. So I made him a pair of
training pants and put them on him. I asked him would he rather wear the SpongeBob
training pants or the diaper. He replied the diaper. So I tried telling him
that big boys go in the big boy potty, and big boys wear training pants, and
basically big boys get to do all sorts of things that babies don’t. He is now
referring to himself as a baby. And what’s worst yesterday when he had the
training pants on I checked him and he was dry so I asked if he needed to go
potty and he told me no. ten seconds later and he was wet. I’ve tried the Huggies
pull ups that have the cool technology in them so when they get wet it gets
cold. The first time he peed in them it surprised him but after the initial
shock he thought it was awesome.
Maybe he just really isn’t ready to potty train yet. Maybe I
just need to give it a little bit longer and he’ll be ready to. Or maybe I need
to read more, and just keep practicing with him.
I can house break a dog but I can’t potty train my kid… how
upsetting.
