Toddler Picture Menu
If your toddler is anything like mine when it comes to
eating then you know that if they don’t pick it out then they don’t eat it.
Even then sometimes they refuse. So I’ve tried to always make Thomas decide
what he wants for his meals and his snacks. I give him a bunch of suggestions
and he chooses. Problem is sometimes he acts like he has no ideas what it is
that I’m telling him about. So then I start pulling everything out of the
cupboards and the freezers and out of the fridge until he sees a picture of
something that he wants to eat. So I decided that something needed to change.
The pulling things out while a 30 pound toddler wiggles around on your hip and
turns down what seems like an endless list of options got tedious – fast.
So I created Thomas’ Picture Menu. All I did was compiled a
list of the foods I knew he liked to eat; Google searched pictures for them,
and then arranged them into a menu. Nothing fancy, just plain. And then I
printed it out onto some cardstock that I already had from a previous project.
I arranged it into meal categories, and put healthy snacks
on the back. When it’s time to eat I simply hand him the menu and he picks out
what he would like to eat. No more walking around the house scavenger hunting
for something to feed him.
